DAY 1 - Brussels and Aachen
Lunchtime Eurostar departure from London St. Pancras
to Brussels where we join a Thalys service for our
onward connection to Aachen, our first overnight
stay.
DAY 2 - Across Germany and into Austria
Our journey today takes us along the Rhine before
cutting across Germany into Austria. This long
distance ICE carries a restaurant car where
refreshments are available. We arrive in Vienna
early evening and transfer to our hotel where we
stay for 3 nights.
DAYS 3 and 4 - Exploring Vienna
Two days to explore the city and a local transport
card is included. We start Day 3 with a guided
walking tour of the city led by one of Vienna’s
experienced local guides. The city of Vienna is to
Austria what New York is to the USA – glamour, glitz
and a wonderful place to indulge in culture.
DAY 5 - The Danube
Today we take a different mode of transport! We
board a morning hydrofoil for a journey on the
mighty River Danube, bound for Budapest. An early
afternoon arrival means that, after a short transfer
to our hotel, the remainder of the day is free.
DAYS 6 and 7 - Budapest and the Children’s Railway
Day 6 starts with a walking tour of the city led by
a local guide followed by a visit to the world
famous Children’s Railway, located to the west of
the city.
Day 7 is at leisure to enjoy this unique and
distinctive city, from the ruins of the Roman era to
Turkish baths from the 150-year Ottoman rule.
DAY 8 - Slovakia and on to Prague
Back to the rails today as we board a morning
EuroCity train. After briefly travelling through
Slovakia we arrive in Prague early evening, our home
for the next 3 nights. This beautiful city is
known as ‘The Jewel in the Crown’ of Central Europe.
DAYS 9 and 10 - Prague at Leisure
Two days to explore starting with a guided, walking
tour of the city on Day 9. The remainder of the day
will allow us to explore any parts of the city we
choose. The whole of Day 10 is free to enjoy this
amazing city. Why not take another visit to Charles
Bridge or view the medieval astronomical clock
dating back to 1410, mounted on the southern wall of
the old town city hall.
DAY 11 - Back to Germany
After breakfast we depart Prague through Germany and
on to Aachen for our final night’s stay.
DAY 12 - Returning Home
The home stretch starts off from Aachen with a
Thalys connection to Brussels. We travel via the
channel tunnel and arrive back in London late
afternoon.
