Welcome to 'See the World by Rail'
A Different Approach for Discerning Travellers

With over thirty years of experience we offer a comprehensive range of holidays for those who enjoy railways and travelling by train. We are proud that our tours are genuinely different, appealing to both enthusiasts and those with only a passing interest in rail travel.

Why Are We Different?

Unlike many rail based tours we always include general sightseeing and leisure time to 'do your own thing'.  We pride ourselves on the balance of interest our tours offer and almost as many of our customers are non-enthusiasts as there are keen rail aficionados.

• Railways and rail travel always feature prominently on our tours.  We visit many of the world’s great railways and enjoy countless classic train journeys of the world.

• Our tours achieve a happy medium, they are carefully planned to ensure leisurely schedules and use good hotels in the best available locations.

• The escorted holidays are led by dedicated and knowledgeable tour leaders who ensure a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with full regard to individual’s needs.

• We are part of the Ffestiniog Railway, the oldest independent railway company in the world.  Your support goes directly towards the preservation and development of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

Join us in 2008 and find out why so many of our customers return year after year.

Responsible Tourism
Ffestiniog Travel is committed to a policy of sustainable, responsible tourism. We hope our customers will share our view that, if what we enjoy today is to be enjoyed by generations to come, we must do our part to ensure it.

For Our Part: We will help to control pollution and preserve natural resources by using scheduled public transport services wherever possible. Whenever we visit places for the purpose of viewing wildlife, we will use local, knowledgeable guides, whose job it is to protect the delicate ecological balance of the area. We will at all times respect the local culture and traditions of the communities we visit.

For Your Part: Please help us to achieve these objectives by being aware that such things are important.

Many of the destinations in this brochure are, thus far, unspoilt by over-development. Let’s work together to keep them that way.
