Day 1 - London to Bastia
Fly from London to Bastia. Transfer to hotel followed by a free afternoon for sightseeing.

Day 2 - Bastia to Calvi by rail
Board the railcar to Calvi. A scenic ride through hills and along the Mediterranean coast will take us to Calvi in time for lunch. Transfer to hotel for two nights.

Day 3 - Free day in Calvi
Enjoy a free day in historic Calvi. Sightsee, laze on the beach or maybe take another trip on the train back to Ile Rousse. Eating alfresco is the order of
the day.

Day 4 - By rail to Ajaccio
Morning departure by train to Ponte Leccia where we change trains for Ajaccio, travelling via Corte. This journey is the highlight of the railways of Corsica, snaking though the mountains and valleys, through countless tunnels and spectacular scenery. Two nights in Ajaccio.

Day 5 - Free day in Ajaccio
Another free day to enjoy the bustling port town of Ajaccio.

Day 6 - Ferry to Sardinia
Morning departure by coach to Bonifacio. We take the early afternoon ferry to Santa Teresa Gallura (1 hour crossing time). Continue by coach to Palau for one night.

Day 7 - Railcar to Sassari
This long and remote branch line only has services over its full length in the high summer so we are chartering our own railcar for the day. Morning departure from Palau with a lunch stop in Tempio. Afternoon arrival in Sassari, our destination for three nights.

Days 8 & 9 - Enjoy Sassari
Free days to enjoy the narrow gauge lines that radiate to Alghero, a seaside resort well worth a visit in its own right, and to Sorso. A trip to Olbia on the standard gauge mainline or the branch to Porto Torres are both easy options.

Day 10 - Across Sardinia
Morning departure from Sassari by coach to Macomer. We transfer to the narrow gauge line bound for Nuoro. Here we board our coach for the very scenic ride over the high mountains that dominate the Eastern half of Sardinia. At Lanusei we stay for three nights at the lovely Hotel Villa Selene where the welcome is exceptionally warm. Evening meals are included here.

Day 11 - Full Day sightseeing tour
A full day sightseeing by coach to Dorgali, Nuoro and over the spectacular Passo Arzu Correboi. Packed lunch included.

Day 12 - Train to Seui
By coach down to Arbatax where we join our charter train snaking up though hills to Seui. This is the first part of two days of extraordinary narrow gauge travel over little used lines with stupendous scenery. Packed lunch provided. Return by road to Lanusei.

Day 13 - Steam to Sorgono
Return by coach to rejoin our train at Seui. Continue to Mandas where the train reverses and travels up to the end of the line at Sorgono. Packed lunch included. One night in Sorgono with dinner included. The train will be steam hauled between Mandas and Sorgono.

Day 14 - Narrow gauge travel
Our final charter train takes us back from Sorgono to Mandas by steam and then onwards to Cagliari (Monserrato). Packed lunch included. Three nights in bustling Cagliari.

Day 15 & 16 - At leisure in Cagliari
There is much to do in this interesting old town which is the island’s main port. Further rail travel is possible over the mainline to the north of the island and to two standard gauge branches to Carbonia Stato and Iglesias.

Day 17 - Cagliari to London
Transfer to the airport for flight Cagliari to London.
